In which I don’t even have to lift two fingers, just one

Once in a while, my friend sends me over something that he’d like me to address because he’s too busy with stuff. It’s kind of like raising the bat signal or something like that. His latest alert was this picture on Instagram:

The anti-vaccine crowd is everywhere, I swear. Anyway, to refute this little bit of misinformation, I didn’t even have to lift two fingers, just the one to find someone refuting it.

And I found that it was brilliantly refuted in this blog post. Spoiler alert: It’s all about the study design. So go read it.

Batman out!

  1. With the mainstream press, we end up with a version of the Chinese Whisper game.
With the antivax crowd, we get a classic version of the Broken Telephone game.

Either way you slice it, the information gets promulgated that is wildly incorrect or worse, pure propaganda.

  2. Well done Batman! (and well done psychescientia!)

Hope this is cool, but I started a website just linking to all the various science/pro-vaccine articles I frequent. Hoping to have resources and articles available to people as well. No ads on the site, not trying to make money. Calling it Sage of Autism.

    Cheers.
